Mississippi’s Own Preston Pittman Wins Kirby National Award

NASHVILLE, Tenn. — For his endless dedication to the National Wild Turkey Federation and its mission, Preston Pittman earned the Dick Kirby National Award. Pittman accepted the award at the 42nd annual NWTF Convention and Sport Show.

The award is named for turkey hunting legend Dick Kirby, who was the brains and heart behind Quaker Boy Calls. He also was one of the original members of the NWTF, serving nine years on its national board of directors in the 1990s. The Dick Kirby Award is given to a call maker or company that has made significant contributions to the NWTF and shown dedication to the Save the Habitat. Save the Hunt. initiative.

Pittman is a seven-time national calling champion, a renowned call maker, and now he gives his time as a Grand National Calling Competition judge.

The NWTF determined this year’s award winners based on how their work strengthens the organization’s Save the Habitat. Save the Hunt. initiative.

“Preston is a master craftsman in the call making industry and an icon in turkey hunting lore,” said Becky Humphries, NWTF CEO. “His talents are limitless, and his contribution to the NWTF is            invaluable.”
