Mississippi Hunter’s Harvest – Taking Aim at Hunger

Share

The Mississippi Wildlife Federation is pleased to announce the Mississippi Hunter’s Harvest Program, a program that lets sportsmen and women help provide venison to hungry people throughout Mississippi.  We are able to launch this program through a generous grant from the James M. Cox Foundation.  The Mississippi Wildlife Federation’s role is to promote and manage this program and raise funds to assist processors.

Through Mississippi Hunter’s Harvest partnerships, participating deer processors prepare the venison and the Mississippi Food Network (https://www.msfoodnet.org/) distributes this meat to needy people in Mississippi.

Mississippi Hunter’s Harvest is a winning program for all involved.

Hunters win by doing their part to help people in need

Partner Processors win by getting positive feedback for their involvement and donation of freezer space

Organizations can win by having a service project for a good cause

The Department of Wildlife, Fisheries and Parks has another tool to use in management of Mississippi’s valuable deer resource.

Deer Donation:

A whole deer may be donated by a hunter and the hunter agrees to pay the processing fee for the venison. A simple completed form is required.

A whole deer may be donated and the processing fee may be paid through the Mississippi Hunter’s Harvest program. These funds are raised through grants, businesses, and personal contributions. A simple completed donation form is required.
