Established in 1979 with a vision to enhance and improve a property that would offer the finest quality of outdoor recreation found in the Mississippi Delta; Dixie Brake was born… Over the decades Dixie Brake has acquired the reputation as a premier destination for waterfowl and upland hunting, as the owners converted the land from open croplands to plantation hardwoods though the Conservation Reserve Program, allowing the ability to design a well laid infrastructure system to include wetland units with flood control structures, upland & wetland food plots and roadways throughout the property. The owners used the natural landscape of the property to layout these design features to enhance the property’s ability to produce quality wildlife recreation. Today some forty years later Dixie Brake exists as a scenically beautiful mixture of natural cypress sloughs rolling between the plantation hardwood ridges and open wildlife fields. In 2014 the owners re-constructed a ten-bedroom lodge along the bank of Third Bridge Lake, a natural deep-water lake lined with Cypress and Tupelo gum trees common to the region. The facilities are quite luxurious, providing all modern amenities as well as equipment and game cleaning facilities. With the location of Dixie Break being close to two major nation wildlife refuges, near the Yazoo River and within sight of the bluff hill region of Carroll county, Dixie Brake has the history and longevity of management making it a premier destination near Greenwood Mississippi.
